Who is Kinetico?
Kinetico Incorporated was founded in 1970 by two engineers with a dream who pioneered the development of non-electric, fully automatic water treatment systems. Kinetico evolved from the Tangent Company, a small consulting design firm, into a global organization of independent Dealers, international distributors and manufacturer's representatives who represent the company in nearly 100 countries. Through the dedication of its founders, employees and distribution network, Kinetico has experienced tremendous success. The company has grown from a two-man, creative undertaking into a strong and dynamic organization. Innovative technology and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction have distinguished the company and positioned Kinetico as a leader in today's ever-changing water treatment industry.

 Jim Kewley and Bill Prior
|
A look back in time reveals Kinetico's inspiring history. It was indeed "water" that brought Kinetico's two founders, Bill Prior and Jim Kewley, together. Although one would initially suspect a common interest in conditioned water, it was actually a mutual love for sailing that united the two. Bill's interest involved sailboat design, while Jim's sailing enthusiasm stemmed from an excursion across the Atlantic Ocean.
One day, Bill received a request from a friend to design an innovative water conditioner valve. He approached his friend Jim Kewley, the sailing enthusiast, and they agreed to form a company to design the valve.
Although both men were engineers, neither had experience in the water treatment industry. Bill and Jim's research generated new ideas and created the determination to build a system better than those already on the market. They based their water conditioner design on the following principles:
A water conditioner should:
- operate based on the demand for treated water.
- provide a continuous supply of soft water, even while the equipment is regenerating or cleaning itself.
- operate without using electricity for safe, simple and reliable service.
Throughout the years, Kinetico Incorporated has continued to develop and expand its product line. The company has evolved into a multifaceted organization that produces a wide variety of water treatment equipment for a multitude of applications. Kinetico's innovative product line now covers all major water treatment markets.
Residential Kinetico manufactures complete systems that improve water quality for general use as well as those that provide high quality drinking water for consumption. Kinetico quality water systems are used in rural, problem water areas and where water is supplied by municipally-controlled water utilities. They are widely renowned for their quality and have earned numerous Best Buy designations from Consumers Digest and high marks from other leading consumer magazines. They are also used and recommended by Dean Johnson, host of the popular home improvement television series, Hometime®, and have been featured on numerous television programs including This Old House, Bob Vila’s Home Again, Good Morning America and the Today Show. Commercial Kinetico systems are used in a wide variety of commercial applications that include restaurants, hotels, carwashes, hospitals and many others. You've probably used Kinetico water and didn't even realize it! Click here to learn more about Kinetico’s commercial products.
Industrial Kinetico is also a world leader in the field of industrial water treatment and recycling. Systems are designed for the printed circuit board, semiconductor, micro-electronics, aerospace, metal finishing and other industries whose waste-water is among the most contaminated and challenging in water pollution management. Kinetico's high purity water systems produce highly-refined water used to manufacture products you use everyday! Click here to learn more about Kinetico’s industrial products.
Municipal Kinetico also manufactures and sells packaged filtration systems to public water utilities that provide safe drinking water (exceeding quality required by the Surface Water Treatment Rule) to small communities. The use of an exclusive filtration product named Macrolite®, a state-of-the-art ceramic filter media jointly developed by Kinetico and 3M, has proven very effective in the removal of microorganisms from water. Because of the success of Macrolite, Kinetico now incorporates it in residential, commercial and industrial products, as well. Click here to learn more about Kinetico’s municipal products.
As a result of Kinetico's rapid growth and impact on the marketplace, it is no longer the small enterprise it once was, started by two resourceful engineers in 1970. But in spite of all of its changes, Kinetico has managed to keep the same innovative approach to solving water problems, the same dedication to quality and the same commitment to people that were the basis for its original success decades ago. Kinetico looks forward to future growth and prosperity as it continues to provide people all over the world with better water. |
